The Bristol Bay Borough Public Works crew was awarded "Employee of
the Year" by the Alaska Municipal League. The picture to the right shows the certificate. The crew received their certificates at the regular Dec. 5, 2000, Assembly Meeting.
The Public Works Department of Bristol Bay Borough provides many services to the public. They are charged with maintenance of the Borough's fleet of vehicles and equipment, including police vehicles, equipment at the port, and landfill. In addition, the department maintains various buildings occupied by the Borough functions. |

Public Works also provides road maintenance on all public roads not under control of the State of Alaska. This includes periodic grading, snow removal, and street drainage work. | The Public Works Department may be contacted at 246-8223 or by fax at 246-3408. Also, Public Works can be contacted at: publicworks@theborough.com . The shop in South Naknek can be reached at 246-6556. In addition, the Public Works Department provides Wastewater Service in most of Naknek and King Salmon. The wastewater crew may be contacted at 246-3664. By email, Wastewater can be contacted at: bbbwater@bristolbay.com . After hours, emergencies should be reported to the police department at 246-4222. The Borough also operates two landfills. The one at South Naknek is open at all times. The landfill between Naknek and King Salmon is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am until 6 pm. This landfill is located about five miles east of Naknek, just off of the Alaska Peninsula Highway. It uses a bailer to reduce waste volume. Used oil and lead acid batteries are recycled. Telephone calls to the Naknek-King Salmon landfill should be to 246-4233. |
